The sketches of Connecticut caricaturist Robert Carley capture the lives of more than 200 artists in his latest exhibition, "Art Stars."
Organized chronologically from the 1300s to the present, each caricature captures the imagination with every pen stroke.
In celebration of Black History Month, Carley has highlighted numerous African American artists - both legendary and unsung—who he says have "broken barriers." Each caricature is paired with biographical insights and personal quotes that offer a unique look at how these icons shaped the art world.
Carley even includes his friend, artist and educator Randy Williams, in the exhibit.
"Art Stars" is on view at the CT State Naugatuck Valley in the Fine Arts Center in Waterbury through Feb. 28. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
