Road Trip Close to Home: The Banksy Exhibit

News 12 takes a trip to lower Manhattan to scope out the elusive works of Banksy.
"Banksy: Building Castles in the Sky" features the work of one of the world's most elusive artists. The unauthorized exhibition has 130 original Banksy works of art from private collections and is open to the public seven days a week.
While Banksy is not involved, Metamorfosi New York curators present it as a scholarly and cultural project that has been authenticated by the artist's office.
Well-known for his famous street art, she says the goal of "Building Castles in the Sky" is to elevate Banksy to the level of a classic artist like of Raphael, Michelangelo and Piero Della Francesca.
Exhibit officials say the mysterious artist from Bristol, England, spent a lot of time in New York honing his craft. Known to be anti-establishment and anti-war, Banksy puts symbols of each in unlikely, paradoxical situations. The exhibit invites visitors to use their imagination to build their very own castles in the sky.
At the end of the exhibit, visitors are encouraged to write on the chalkboard and follow the prompt, "If I were Banksy..." and write a message or a drawing for the artist.
