A Rockland man has been charged with taking his dog from the Hi-Tor Animal Shelter.
The Rockland Sheriff's Office says the dog was originally lodged at the shelter last Friday because it was found wandering unattended in the town of Ramapo.
It was discovered missing a day later.
Investigation led authorities to 20-year-old Bernard Teichman, of Pomona, who lives near the shelter and owns the dog named Sky.
They say he unlawfully trespassed into the locked facility after the shelter was closed and removed the dog.
Teichman has been charged with criminal trespass and was released on an appearance ticket.
