Thousands of runners in the United Airlines Half Marathon trekked from Brooklyn to Central Park this morning and afternoon.
Despite the cold weather, participants in the multi-borough run were determined to make it through.
"I'm ready to go. By the time I start running, I will warm up and cross the finish line,” said runner Henfry Alvarez.
"We just run. Snow, rain, cold, sunny, any weather,” said Christine Huang of Michigan.
The crowd of runners were bundled in layers of clothing to keep warm as they made their way over the Manhattan bridge, FDR Drive, Times Square, and Central Park.
"I looked at the weather and went on to Amazon, found some inexpensive Snuggies. We're going to donate them to the unsheltered once we start running,” said Mike Carey of San Diego.
The first place men's runner finished in an hour and one minute. The first place woman’s runner finished in one hour and seven minutes.
