The Salvation Army was in Sunset Park making sure residents had what they need to stay warm during the bitter cold.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday said that 10 people were found dead outside following extremely cold weather over the past several days.
With the city in an enhanced Code Blue, they were handing out socks, hand warmers and more for people in need.
"We've had interactions with people where they immediately start crying because it's been tough because it's a lot for them. So, somebody handing even just a bottle of water or a pair of gloves means a lot to them," said Salvation Army staff member Nini Dong.
Dong also says if you see anyone struggling in this weather to call 311 or 911 because it could save a life.
