Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) wants millions of federal dollars to combat school shootings.
Schumer proposed the legislation at a press conference held at the High School for Enterprise, Business and Technology in Brooklyn. On Friday, a student at the school was arrested for bringing a gun into school.
The senator is asking for $50 million from the government to prevent more school shootings. Schumer wants the money to be spent on better school security and the improvement of emergency communication. He also wants to train students and teachers how to spot the warning signs of troubled individuals before another deadly incident.
