A year ago today, Sen. Chuck Schumer proposed legislation that would make it a federal offense to trespass on crucial infrastructure like the bridges in and out of Manhattan.
It was a reaction to several security breaches in 2014, including incidents on the Brooklyn Bridge.
One was as benign as a man climbing the bridge to take selfies for Instagram. Another saw two German artists replace the American flags atop the bridge.
A year later, the bill remains stalled in a committee on Capitol Hill, where it is not expected to pass.
