SCOOT! Eastchester PD regulates use of electric scooters and electric bicycles

The New York Vehicle and Traffic Law prohibits riding an electric scooter and bicycle without a helmet. They also can't be ridden on sidewalks, walkways or public lands - they can only be used on roadways.

The Eastchester Police Department is regulating the use of electric scooters and electric bicycles.
That means you could now get a fine or get your scooter or bike taken away.
The New York Vehicle and Traffic Law prohibits riding an electric scooter and bicycle without a helmet. They also can't be ridden on sidewalks, walkways or public lands - they can only be used on roadways.
People ages 15 and younger are not allowed to ride them.
Increased enforcement comes after several accidents, as well as reports of improper and underage use.
