The NYPD is still searching for three teenage boys wanted in connection with the stabbing of a 13-year-old girl outside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center subway station Sunday night. The attack comes as concerns over safety in and around subway stations remain high.
Police say the suspects, all believed to be between the ages of 16 and 19, are accused of stabbing the young girl in the stomach with a knife. New photos have surfaced showing the suspects inside the subway system on the night of the attack.
According to officers, the incident began when the suspects and the victim engaged in an argument outside the station shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday. The confrontation escalated and the 13-year-old girl was stabbed. Officers say the girl is expected to recover.
The suspects remain at large. Further video footage shows them hopping the turnstiles in the subway system on the night of the crime. Police have not confirmed whether the teens were carrying weapons at the time of the footage, nor what station it is from.
Police say the teens were last seen running off on Atlantic Avenue.
The incident follows the recent introduction of metal detectors at select subway stations, though none were observed at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station this morning.
Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to contact the NYPD.
