In the vibrant community of Flatbush, an 11-year-old entrepreneur is proving that no dream is too big.

Sebastian, the mastermind behind Sebastian’s Spices and Slices, is blending two pieces of New York culture: pizza and diversity.

This unique pizzeria not only serves delicious food but also pays homage to Trinidad and Grenada.

Sebastian’s food journey began at home, where traditional dishes were part of his upbringing.

“He lives in a house where we cook oxtail, make curry shrimp and stew chicken. I always try to show him creative ways to play with our food,” says his mother, Natalie.

This introduction to diverse flavors has inspired Sebastian to craft a menu that highlights the essence of his Caribbean roots.

Sebastian’s Spices and Slices has toppings like oxtail, shrimp and even breadfruit.

“This is just a good opportunity to show that Black businesses actually matter," says Sebastian.

Sebastian's parents are entrepreneurs who believe teaching him the business now is needed for long term success.

“I think it can teach a sense of responsibility, discipline, money management and time management,” said his mom.

His parents also signed a 10-year lease for the pizzeria, so by the time he turns 21, he will have the opportunity to shape his business and at 16 or 17, his name will officially go on the paperwork.

“I’m grateful because maybe one day I can show my kids how business works,” said Sebastian.

His vision for Sebastian’s Spices and Slices is about creating a space where diverse cultures can come together over a slice of pizza with a Caribbean twist.

Sebastian’s Spices and Slices is open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
