Barclays Center and the NYPD ramped up their security measures for an exhibition game between the Israeli national basketball team, Maccabi Ra’anana, and the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night less than one week after Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel.
The NYPD Counter-Terrorism unit was present for the game as hundreds came to attend not only to watch the basketball game but stand in solidarity with Israel.
“It’s something really nice and cool that the Brooklyn Nets are hosting… they are showing support for Israel and the league in general and it’s awesome,” said Maccabi Ra’anana fan Gezy Rubashkin.
