Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he wants people to save more at the pump.
Blumenthal was at the Shell station in Fairfield Monday to talk to residents about legislation he plans to introduce to the Senate.
The Gas Prices Relief Act would lower gas prices by temporarily suspending the federal gas tax to the end of the year.
"I'm going to fight for this measure. It's common sense. It ought to be bipartisan. Every consumer in this country that buys gasoline is hit with this 18.4 cents per gallon tax and everyone deserves this relief," Blumenthal says.
The act will make sure the savings goes to Americans and not to gas and oil companies.
