Bronx state Sen. Ruben Diaz crossed state lines today to protest the legalization of gay marriage in New Jersey.
Diaz and members from the Christian Community Neighborhood Church rallied in Trenton ahead of a vote in the New Jersey Assembly to allow gay marriage. The legislation passed and is on its way to Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ).
Christie has promised to veto the bill.
Diaz was also a leader in the fight against same-sex marriage in New York, despite his own granddaughter being gay.
