Seniors and NYCHA tenants rallied in East New York Monday to ask the city to provide more senior housing.

Metro IAF and East Brooklyn Congregations believe more housing for seniors will allow more NYCHA housing to open up for families.

The organizations managed to secure city funding for more housing, but says it hasn't happened fast enough.

"$500 million that's allocated in the budget for building senior housing, that was done six months ago. So now we're wondering what's the mayor waiting for," says East Brooklyn Congregations co-chair Pastor Tyrone Stevenson.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the mayor's office says three NYCHA sites are now underway for new senior housing, with the six new sites promised in June moving forward on schedule.
