Five former Rikers corrections officers convicted of beating an inmate and trying to cover it up appeared in court Tuesday to be sentenced, but their sentencing date was pushed back. 

Tobias Parker, Jose Parra, Eliseo Perez Jr., Alfred Rivera and David Rodriguez and the former DOC chief of security were each found guilty of first-degree attempted gang assault and numerous other charges. 

A jury found the men guilty of attempted assault in the first and second degree, falsifying business records and official misconduct in the July 2012 beating of Jahmal Lightfoot, a former inmate.

The five officers were part of a larger group charged in the assault. 

Each man could get up to 15 years in prison. 

The new sentencing date is scheduled for Sept. 16.
