? The succession feud continues between the late Grand Rebbe Moses Teitelbaum?s sons with both men planning separate Sabbath services in Williamsburg Friday.
Zalmen Teitelbaum, the youngest son, leads the Satmar sect in Brooklyn. His brother Aaron oversees the community in Orange County. A rabbinical court has declared Zalmen as the new grand rebbe in accordance with his father?s will. However, Aaron believes he should be the rightful leader. Police are monitoring the situation and say they hope no violence breaks out during the services.
Moses Teitelbaum served as the rebbe, or grand rabbi, of the Orthodox Satmar Jewish community since 1980. He died Monday at the age of 91 at Mount Sinai Hospital.
