Several firefighters were injured Monday in a Flatbush apartment building fire.
More than 100 firefighters from 33 units took at least two hours to put out the blaze on Linden Boulevard. The deputy chief says working in the extreme temperatures proved to be a challenge. Some of the injured workers suffered from heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The water damaged several apartments, leaving more than 20 people displaced. The Red Cross is helping at least six displaced families with shelter, food and clothing. Councilmember Yvette Clarke says other victims of the fire can call her office for help at (718) 287-8762.
