A Red Hook tenant says her toilet and bathtub are flooding her apartment with raw sewage.
Akua Damptey says the smell was so bad in her Red Hook Houses apartment Tuesday that it woke her up around midnight.
"The smell, it was just unbearable," Damptey says.
She called NYCHA for help, and workers applied a temporary fix that apparently failed after around two hours, she says.
"This time it was feces coming up," Damptey tells News 12.
She says the apartment has had trouble with flooding periodically for the past 10 years -- but after the latest mess, she says she wants to transfer to another place to live.
In a statement, NYCHA says its staff cleared the problem Wednesday night and that the building management confirmed the problem had been resolved again Thursday morning. The housing authority also apologized for the incident and said it would monitor the situation.
