A dangerous intersection between Sheepshead Bay and Brighton Beach is about to get a major facelift.

Residents have complained for years that the intersection between Coney Island and Guider avenues is dangerous to both drivers and pedestrians.

A resident told News 12 that it's a challenge to cross the street in the area because it's a three-way intersection with an entrance to the Belt Parkway.

Pedestrians are given a little over 30 seconds to make it across the grand intersection, according to residents. Now, safety improvements will be made.

Councilman Chaim Duestch and the Department of Transportation worked together to ensure the intersection will receive left-hand turn signals, larger medians, longer crossing times for pedestrians and added parking along Guider Avenue.

Maurice Kolodin, a member of Community Board 15, says the city has been fielding complaints about the intersection for years. He says he's been aware of the problem since he moved into the area 50 years ago.

The DOT will start work on the intersection later this month.
