Hawley Lane Shoes in Shelton is donating 20% of proceeds from sales at its store to help a man awaiting a double organ transplant.

Store co-owners Dave Levy and Joe Gradia say the percentage of proceeds from sales made between today and Sunday will be donated to Jimmy Nuzzo of Norwalk. Nuzzo, 62, is waiting for a heart and liver transplant at a hospital in Boston.

"He's the one person that would really truly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need," said Levy.

"It's now our turn to give back to Jimmy," added Gradia.

Nuzzo, accompanied by his wife Lisa, says they're grateful for all the financial support they're getting, but the real reason they are speaking out is to ask the public to pray for them and to thank everybody for the amazing outpouring of support.

"We're the type of people that we will get through this and then we will pay it forward," said Lisa Nuzzo.

Nuzzo says the double organ transplant could come Friday or a week from now.

Levy and Gradia say those interested in making a donation just need to come in and tell the cashier "their purchase is for Jimmy."
