Worshippers at a Paterson mosque were pelted with rocks during a service, according to the Passaic County sheriff.
Authorities say that the incident happened Monday around 9 p.m. Sheriff Richard Berdnick says that two people walked into the mosque on Preakness Avenue during prayer and started to throw rocks. About 100 people were inside at the time.
"To have two individuals, two masked individuals, come into this mosque and throw rocks at the congregants, is just totally disgusting to me, disgraceful and disgusting,” the sheriff said.
The incident is being declared a bias attack.
