Sister of slain cyclist Lauren Davis demands protected lane on Classon Avenue
The sister of a cyclist who was struck and killed by a car along Classon Avenue last year is moving across the country to try and increase bicycle safety in Brooklyn.
A memorial ghost bike serves as a reminder of Lauren Davis' tragic death.
Her sister, Danielle Davis, is moving to New York from San Diego to push for a bike lane on Classon Avenue to prevent similar deaths.
Currently, cyclists use the extended parking lane, which Davis says is far from safe.
A dedicated bike lane would improve safety and bring a sense of purpose to her sister's death, Davis says.
The state Department of Transportation says it does have plans to implement a bike lane and that it's working with the community to develop a plan.
