The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (Sobro) is a multifaceted organization that has been providing services in the South Bronx community for more than five decades. Now, it’s quickly adapted to address the needs of the community due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sobro has been serving the Mott Haven community for more than 50 years.
It was forced to shut down at the height of the pandemic, but has since reopened.
However, the food insecurity in Mott Haven has increased during the pandemic. Sobro says it has partnered with a number of restaurants and food banks to provide pre-packed meals to local families.
The Bronx agency says it’s proud that it has been able to help in the economic, social and mental aspects during the pandemic.
