The city is looking into the contamination levels at Herbert Von King Park.
The discovery came during routine soil testing for a planned renovation of the dog run.
City officials say other areas of the park are safe and will remain open.
They say dog owners are still allowed to let their pets off-leash before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m.
