Some Williamsburg senior citizens will soon see improvements to their apartment buildings thanks to new city funding.
The city has set aside $135 million to finance the preservation of buildings in Brooklyn. The building managers in Williamsburg are happy that $20 million of the funds will help preserve three senior citizen apartment buildings. The building managers add that the funding will also help keep their mortgages down.
Tenants say they are relieved the apartments will stay affordable. The senior citizens also say they are looking forward to the improvements and some additions the funding will bring. Meanwhile, $40 million has also been set aside to build new apartments along the recently rezoned Williamsburg waterfront.
