With Christmas less than two weeks away, U.S. Marines are helping out by collecting toys for underprivileged kids in the Brooklyn area.
Toys for Tots drop boxes are located all over the city and once they?re filled, they?re sent to a warehouse at Floyd Bennett Field. The Marines are spending the weekend there sorting and sending out the toys.
The Marines estimate 150,000 toys will pass through the warehouse by Christmas. The U.S. Marines have been helping out Toys for Tots for 60 years.
?It gives you a warm feeling to know you?re able to help some of the children that are less fortunate, because everyone deserves a Christmas,? says Sgt. Robert M. Briscoe. ?Everybody needs to have that special day.?
The Marines also work with more than a dozen NYPD precincts to get toys to families who need some extra help.
