Multiple sources have told News 12's senior political reporter
Tara Rosenblum that Andrew Cuomo has made the decision to run for New York City mayor following many months of speculation.
Cuomo served as the 56th
governor of New York from 2011 until his resignation in 2021 following several sexual harassment allegations, which he adamantly denies. There were no felony charges filed, and a misdemeanor charge was later dropped.
Sources tell News 12 Cuomo has already earned several crucial endorsements for mayor, including former state Comptroller H. Carl McCall and will make an official announcement via video in the next few weeks.
The development comes as current Mayor Eric Adams battles low approval ratings and a federal indictment.
