Police sources tell News 12 that a 17-year-old boy was stabbed during a violent robbery in Manhattan Beach on Wednesday evening.

The attack happened in front of a home on Oriental Boulevard, drawing a large police response.

Harold Morris, who lives next door, said he was shocked.

“I lock my door at night, but sometimes it feels like I don’t need to,” Morris said. “So yeah, very surprised.”

Sources say the teen was approached by two suspects demanding property when the situation escalated and he was stabbed in the back.

Neighbors said the nearby bus stop can sometimes draw large crowds of beachgoers late at night.

“There’s always a lot of people waiting at this bus stop coming out of the beach,” Morris said. “Sometimes it can get kind of rowdy there.”

Sources say police recovered the knife used in the attack.

The teen is expected to survive.
