There's a new souvenir shop in Gowanus in honor of its namesake canal, which is known mostly for being polluted.
The shop's owners, Ute Zimmerman and Joel Beck, say the Gowanus Canal has endearing qualities to local residents.
Some of the items they sell poke fun at the canal's pollution problem -- like tea purportedly grown "from the banks of the Gowanus Canal, rich in the spices of Brooklyn."
There's also a "Gowanus Swim Team" T-shirt.
The owners say all of the souvenirs sold at the shop are made by local artists.
