It's not just filling up our cars that is costing more, but jet fuel is too. That combined with an increase in demand for travel after Omicron is impacting spring travel. News 12 talked to an economist at Hopper about the increase and ways to still save money.
Coming out of the Omicron variant wave we are definitely seeing a resurgence of travel demand. Part of that is also that travelers should expect higher prices for the spring because demand is returning stronger.
Looking at airfare, prices for spring break are about $290 roundtrip on average for a domestic flight and about $698 round trip on average for an international flight. Overall, airfare is getting more expensive, especially on the domestic side.
Hopper recommends travelers start tracking prices as soon as they know where they want to go and when they want to go. In terms of when to fly, for domestic flights, mid-week prices for departures and returns are the cheapest.
