Stamford-based Americares is sending an emergency response team to the Tampa area in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

Stamford-based Americares is sending an emergency response team to the Tampa area in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
They will also send hygiene essentials, medicine and medical supplies as well as emergency funding to help health centers impacted by the storm. 
Betsy Warfield, Americares interim VP of emergency programs, says Americares has more than 200 partners across Florida who they are working with.
The Connecticut region of the American Red Cross says it's also sending supplies and volunteers to Florida as well as opening shelters for those who needed to evacuate. 
Americares has a long history of responding to natural disasters.
