4ds agoA Stamford man is dead after hiding in Canada for two years following a police standoff, officials say.
Police say Simon Bester was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman in 2019.
Officials say Bester never showed up for court, and Stamford police tracked him down in Canada.
The U.S. Marshal’s office worked with Candian police to find Bester in Quebec.
They tried to arrest him before a standoff that resulted in Bester killing himself.
