State Attorney General Tong cooks up memories for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

When Connecticut Attorney General William Tong isn't fighting for the people in his state, he spends a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and eating.
Tong met News 12 Connecticut at Peter Chang's in Stamford to make soup dumplings from scratch, and remember his proud Chinese heritage.
"My parents are Chinese immigrants and they came here in the late 60s and early 70s. My dad was a cook in a Chinese restaurant in Bloomfield, Connecticut," said Tong.
Tong says his parents later opened up their own place.
"I grew up working side-by-side with my parents in our Chinese restaurant," Tong said.
Before the attorney general tried his soup dumplings he talked something he does on his social media called Tongs Tastings.
"I get hungry on the road when you travel the state," said Tong.
Tong says he's always looking for a local spot.
"Talking to owners and putting it up social media to celebrate Connecticut restaurants," Tong said.
A high-profile politician, who has never forgotten his roots.
"I'm more than just your attorney general, I can make a dumpling," Tong laughed.
