Visitors will be allowed back at some New York hospitals today, but there are several rules in place.

It has been about two months since visitors have been allowed to visit their loved ones at any New York hospital, but the restrictions are starting to ease up.

Starting today, people will have access to visit for the first time, but only at certain hospitals. NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, North Central Bronx and Coney Island will be a part of a total of 20 hospitals statewide taking part. It’s a two-week pilot program that the state has rolled out.

Before visitors are allowed inside, they will have to wash their hands, wear PPE and will be screened for potential coronavirus symptoms, including temperature checks.

There will also be limited visitation hours. People going inside will have up to four hours to stay with a patient and only one person at a time will be allowed in the room, unless the hospitals says otherwise. As for visiting hours, facilities will have full control of that.

After the two-week period, hospital officials will determine if the program was effective enough to implement at other hospitals in the state.
