The
state is urging people and businesses to conserve water following the hot and
dry weather.
Here
are some tips recommended by the state:
- Use
up to 50% less water with drip irrigation instead of sprinklers.
- Only
water when you need to. Most landscapes in New Jersey only need one
inch of water per week.
- If
you have a pool, use a water saving filter.
- Raise
your lawnmower blade to at least three inches to promote deeper grass
roots, which holds water more effectively.
- Use
water from air conditioner or dehumidifier to water your plants.
- Use native plants that need less water.
The
state says water demands right now are being met, but these steps make sure
that reserve levels do not get too low.
