As more and more older adults are being injured in falls, Stony Brook Medicine offered a special Tai Chi demonstration Sunday to focus on fall prevention.
A special Tai Chi demonstration was given to members of the community Sunday.
Experts say Tai Chi is a good way for older people to improve their balance.
One woman from East Setauket says the Tai Chi program has helped her gain energy, better strength and balance.
"I used to just fall, but I maneuver. And I'm able to self-correct. And I have to say thank you. I have not fallen in almost a year," said participant Ann Stein.
Stony Brook system was awarded a federal three-year grant to expand the Adult Falls Prevention Programs across Long Island.
