Family, friends, and the Brooklyn community came together to host a "Stop the Violence" march Sunday afternoon, in honor of what would have been the late Kade Lewin's 13th birthday.
Kade Lewin was shot and killed on March 31, while eating dinner inside of a car with his family. It was a few weeks shy of his 13th birthday on May 1.
The suspect is still on the loose.
Demonstrators took their marks where the child attended middle school and marched to the spot where he took his final breaths on 56th Street and Linden Boulevard.
Attendees wore matching t-shirts with signs both to celebrate Kade's birthday and make a statement against gun violence.
Kade's family set up the Kade Ashton Tyler Lewin Foundation Fund to help support children affected by gun violence.
