Strong winds and heavy rain will lead to a nasty Friday morning commute.

News 12's Storm Watch Team is closely tracking a potent storm system late Thursday night into Friday.

While the recent frigid weather with snow on the ground may have you thinking about the white Christmas of your childhood dreams, we have some news for you - better luck next year.

The combination of heavy rain and unseasonably mild conditions on Friday will become the recipe for snow cover to be eaten up for a Friday morning breakfast by this "Grinch Storm."

Plan for extra time for the Friday morning commute as heavy rain and strong/damaging winds gusting 40-60 mph may and likely will cause power outages.

The heavy rain and melting snow will lead to areas of street flooding as ice and slush clog some drains.

Temperatures will be in the 50s to even near 60 before crashing into the 30s and 40s by late Friday afternoon.
