Borough President Eric Adams was joined by elected officials Sunday to call on Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the MTA to be more transparent when it comes to the new L train proposals.
Adams says while they applaud Cuomo for finding new innovative ideas and for finding a possible way around a complete L train shutdown, they questioned why this proposal didn't come earlier.
Instead of removing portions of the tunnels bench wall, the new plan would have workers place fiber wrap around weakened sections of the wall -- allowing for work to take place on nights and weekends only.
Officials say that after years of preparing residents across Manhattan and Brooklyn for this mass disruption, they feel they have been blindsided and have a number of questions still unanswered.
Local leaders are also asking plans will continue to be considered for Citi Bike and ferry expansion, along with extra train cars and alternative bus service, despite the new proposal.
