The Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk is being held in Marine Park to raise awareness of the disease. The leader of the walk, who lost her mother to pancreatic cancer, says that this event is too important to be canceled due to the weather.

Organizers of the event say they are adapting to the high temperatures by shortening the distance of the walk.

City officials recommend people to stay indoors and out of the heat as much as possible. They say if being in the heat is unavoidable, then to stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water.
