Crown Heights woman says leaks in apartment have forced her to replace furniture

Posted: Updated:
A Crown Heights woman says she's had major leaks in her apartment for years to the point where she's had to replace furniture.

Kayana Williams says she has even had to cover her bed with plastic due to the leaks. For years she says every time it rains outside, it also rains inside her apartment.

Williams says her ceiling light fixtures are welling up with water, which drip down to her bedroom and on her bed.

Williams tells News 12 that when she sees rainy weather outside, she has to immediately run to get buckets and plastic covers to protect her bed and furniture.

She says she has been dealing with this problem for around five years. She says every time she reaches out to the management company Riseboro they send someone to do a temporary fix.

Williams says the fixes have just been band-aid jobs.

Riseboro told News 12 in a statement, "We are currently working to resolve the problem: upon the tenant's complaints, Riseboro utilized a contractor to add additional roofing and siding materials to fix any leaks."

Williams says aside from the inconvenience – and her furniture – shes also worried about her safety. The ceiling in her living room has already collapsed a few years ago - and she's worried the ceiling in her or her daughters bedroom may be next.
