A longtime Gowanus establishment is closing its doors after 71 years of business.
Two Toms is an Italian restaurant on 255 Third Ave. known for its dinner-only Italian staples served in an old school environment.
Owner Anthony Catapano, 62, has been cooking all the dishes himself for years.
Catapano says now is a great time to hang up the apron since the real estate value in the area has skyrocketed.
Before permanently closing doors, Catapano decided to have one big farewell party with longtime customers.
"Truly humbling. I mean, you know, people just came; people flew up from Florida and California just to come and say goodbye and have the last porkchop,” says Catapano. “That's exactly how it was, up until yesterday the place has been unbelievable…I mean if it wasn't for their support, we wouldn't be here. The customers. Truly part of the Two Toms family."
