A Brooklyn street has been renamed for the former aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo who was gunned down ahead of last year's West Indian Day Parade.

The stretch of Clinton Avenue from Myrtle Avenue to Willoughby Avenue will now be known as Carey Gabay Way.

Gabay was a Harvard University-educated lawyer who served as first deputy counsel to the governor. He was shot and killed before dawn near the grounds of the parade in Crown Heights last September.

Police say Gabay was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire between two armed groups. No arrests have been made in the case.

A statement released Sunday by the governor said in part, "Carey Gabay was an exemplary public servent who dedicated his life to improving the world around him... I am proud to ensure his legacy lives on with the naming of Carey Gabay Way."

Sunday would have been Gabay's 44th birthday.
