A street in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens officially has a new name in honor of a late community member.
The section of Midwood Street between Bedford and Flatbush was officially renamed Saturday after neighborhood activist Carole Schaffer, who died in 2014.
The street has been named Carole Schaffer Way.
Schaffer founded the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens House Tour 48 years ago as a way to open up the communities historic manors and architecture to visitors.
The neighborhood celebrates its 48th annual house tour Sunday.
