Nurses on strike were arrested outside of a Manhattan hospital on Thursday.
Police say that 13 nurses were arrested outside of the League of Voluntary Hospitals on West 57th Street. They say the group blocked the entrance while demonstrating and refused to move despite repeated warnings.
NYSNA sent out a statement in response to the arrests, saying, “We put our bodies on the line every day that we go to work caring for patients. Today we were willing to put our bodies on the line and risk arrest to advocate for patients, win the fair contracts nurses and patients deserve, and get nearly 15,000 New York City nurses back to work.”
All 13 nurses were issued criminal court summons.
