Studies: Risk of stillbirth, COVID-19 deaths in pregnant women rose due to delta variant

Pregnant women who become infected with the delta variant of COVID-19 are at an increased risk of a stillbirth or dying during childbirth, according to two studies.
One of those studies from the CDC found women diagnosed with COVID-19 are more likely to suffer a stillbirth and that risk increased when the delta variant appeared.
Doctors aren't certain of the connection, but they say pregnant women with COVID-19 have a difficult time getting oxygen-rich blood to their babies.
The second study shows deaths among pregnant COVID-19 patients also rose when the delta variant became dominant.
