Car safety is a priority for most parents, but a recent study shows that many don't know the safest way to buckle up their children.

According to a recent national survey by the University of Michigan, 21 percent of children under the age of 4 were not properly fastened, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The results of the survey also found that race and ethnicity played a role, with Hispanic and black portions of the population less likely to take precautions.
