A 100-year-old Sunset Park co-op is going green by installing solar panels.

Residents of the Sungarden Homes say that they will be paying about $40 a month extra over the next five years to pay for the installation. The solar panels will allow residents to get tax incentives, as well as have the added benefit of a lower energy bill.

Co-op owners hope their big investment will pay off should there be another massive blackout, since the panels will power much of the energy needed for the building.
