A rapper from Sunset Park is aspiring for greatness and hoping to inspire other artists as well.
Matthew Hernandez, better known by his stage name Jookz, has been writing rhymes since he was 9 years old when he was introduced to rapping through Biggie Small's hit song, “Juicy.”
"I took a liking to it, and then I wanted to express it in my own words into that form of music,” he says.
Jookz says his goal with each song is expressing a thought or idea that others can relate to - or at the very least understand.
He says money, traveling, girls and cars are some of the recurring themes that drive his storytelling.
It’s gotten him pretty far for a 26-year-old, with performances around the world and songs played on the radio.
