A Sunset Park school is launching a program to help its students tackle childhood obesity.
The school, P.S. 172, is partnering with the New Jersey Nets, Health Plus and Lutheran Family Health Centers to develop the "Shoot for Better Health" initiative.
School officials say obesity is a major problem among its students and that about 50 percent of them are overweight or obese.
To address the problem, P.S. 172 is asking students to take the 5210 Challenge, which consists of eating five or more fruits and vegetables daily, cutting television or computer use to two hours, spending one hour exercising and cutting out sugar and sweets.
